Pesticide Pandemonium

27-Oct-05 12:46 pm EST Leave a comment Go to comments
The extermely contentious pesticide ban bylaw being debated before Ottawa City council was put to a vote last night and was provisionally defeated by a slim margin, ignoring a suggestion by concilatory voices on council that reccommdended putting the matter to a referendum in upcoming civic elections next year.

Incredible as it sounds, this isn’t the end of the furor.  Despite the dubious legality of the bylaw & impact it may have on surroudning farmland in the Ottawa area, the ban will get a further hearing in two weeks.

So keep those front row seats – the entertainment’s not over with yet. 😉
