…and so ended the 38th Parliament of Canada.

Well it’s finally over.  And while I can’t say I wanted it to end quite when it did (and I’m speaking as an ‘undecided’ voter presently), the end of this Parliament isn’t without some cause for celebration.  One piece of rotten legislation which is going to die on the order paper was Bill C-60 – an Act to Amend the Copyright Act.  This bill would have flown in the face of recent scandal in the U.S. related to the Sony Digitial Rights Management copy protection virus, which installs system-damaging software and could have allowed such things to happen in Canada offering impunity to corporations like Sony.  The end of this Parliament hopefully means this issue (dear to my heart) will get a sober second review before any further action is taken….

Surfing and found your site. I agree that it is unfortunate that a bill is completely gone when a parliament is dissolved. I was watching the decriminalization of small amts of marijuana. Hopefully, after the election, some real work can be done by the government and they can stop their petty bickering!
