Amber Alert Online!

Ontario’s Amber Alert programme (which is an alert designed to help police find missing &/or abducted children) has finally gone oneline & wireless.  Now alerts can be sent to cell phones via text messaging & to e-mail directly.

Extending the programme, which has historically been available only through broadcast media organizations, should ocnsiderably enhance the service as cell phones with text messaging work virtually everywhere there are population centres grater than 1,000 in Ontario.  And in an emergency situation like an abduction, very minute counts according to police.  Reaching people with cell phones already walking around the streets of major cities extends a huge tactical advantage.
