Atheists Wasting Taxpayers Money…Again
It’s pretty bizaare to see today’s CBC’s lunch hour news brief outlining a story about an atheist group called "Secular Ontario" threatening to sue the Ontario Government over the Lord’s prayer being conducted in certain towne council meetings throughout Ontario. Why? Well it’s exactly groups like these that argue against religious programmes, in part, because they waste taxpayers money. But now that it would actually cost taxpayers money to eliminate the Lord’s prayer from the last few remaining corners of government altogether – well it’s no problem to spend, spend, spend!
Ya know, I think it might be getting to a point where special interest groups or lobbyists need to be barred from suing the government. Very rarely do such groups have the interests of the majority at heart – and often use the guise of defending individual liberty as an excuse to run up hundreds or even milliions of dollars of court time at taxpayer expense proving or disproving rediculous, backward notions that are serving almighty ideology. Even more hilarious: part of their rationale is that might offend others’ non-Christians’ beliefs and values (as if the true atheist cares about the backward, superstitious values of other non-Christians too). I mean, if athetist groups – who formerly couldn’t stand the arcanity of religious studies in high schools because of their wasteful extravagence and expense – now are hungering for that same waste in a hypocritical crusade to simply destroy mere references to a non-existent God in public meetings in the name of defending religious netrality….well if we don’t declare the world’s gone upside-down at this point, when will we?
